File Managers

Quik_Fix @ 6/23/2003 3:29:31 PM #
Maybe I'm alone in thinking this, but I can't see myself paying $12 for a file manager. Filez is free and perfectly functional. Granted there might be a little feature plus to Teal Mover, but is that feature plus worth $12? That seems awful steep. With so many options out there, I think Teal Software might be stretching a little far trying to make money off of a VFS manager.

Oh, and I forgot..

FIRST POST! Oh yeah! Its my birfday! End zone dance! Booty Shake!

Ahem.
Pardon me.

Oh my God. They found me. I dunno how but they found me...

PaPi-Mail supports SSL

ggeoffre @ 6/23/2003 3:58:42 PM #
Don't get me wrong, I think that is is great that there is more then one company out there inovating and enhancing the support of the various mail clinets for the PalmOS. But I did not think that SnaperMail was the _ONLY_ email application that can handle SSL. PaPi-Mail also supports SSL...

http://www.ses-soft.com/papi/PaPi-Mail/

I also realize that VersaMail requires PalmOS 5.1 or greater for SSL support. I do not think that Iambic Mail supports SSL yet.

I think the artilce says SSL with attachments. Does PaPi-Mail do that?

While PaPi-Mail supports SSL, it does not seem to support attachments, which is what the article refers to.

VersaMail supports receiving SSL email, but cannot send SSL email. Not sure about PaPi-Mail though.

Apparently PaPi-Mail has no client side or Pop3 SSL support. Seems like a good email client though... The clip below is from their website:

"POP3: APOP supported. (POP3 over SSL is NOT supported.)
IMAP4 over SSL/TLS supported. (SSL Client Authentication is not supported.)
SMTP: SMTP over SSL/TLS, SMTP Authentication, POP before SMTP supported. (SSL Client Authentication is not supported.)"

"i don't know but loooks like the new ms windows mobile is advertising hard here."

Yeah, they will be pushing very hard... be prepared for a deluge of online and tv ads. With the best-ever iPaq, and Pocket Windows 2003 being "more stable", this is their best opportunity to overcome Palm OS. It's do, or die and spend several more years as an also ran.

WHAT popup? Just switch to Opera or Mozilla/Netscape 7. All of them have integrated popup stoppers that work very well.

Mozilla and Opera may block pop-ups, but they don't block interstitial ads.
