Today at the European PalmSource Developer Conference Paragon Software announced a new version of thier popular game, RifleSLUGs-W: Wild Web Wars. The new version adds support for wireless multiplayer gaming over IR, Bluetooth and the Internet. RifleSLUGs-W is a sequel of the popular game series RifleSLUGs and RifleSLUGs-II for Palm OS. RifleSLUGs is a reincarnation of well-known PC strategy games concept. It is a step-by-step strategy game in which two armies of slugs (red and yellow) battle for existence. Using a wide range of weapons, the armies engage in fierce battle, attempting to annihilate each other. The player can command an army of slugs in battle against the computer or another player. There is a choice of different battle maps and weapons.
“RifleSLUGs-W: Wild Web Wars is a great Palm OS gaming application designed to leverage the advantages of the wireless capabilities and high-resolution screens of many Palm Powered devices and deliver a unique mobile gaming experience,” said Larry Berkin, director of global developer marketing, PalmSource, Inc. RifleSLUGs-W: Wild Web Wars is now available with four packs of new battle maps: two of them are included into the game package, two others are distributed as stand alone add-ons. The company plans to continue designing new maps and to offer a number of new scenarios. New versions of RifleSLUGs-W will also be available soon for the Sony CLIE UX40/50 and for the new Zodiac from Tapwave, Inc.

Multi-player game would be cool. I did not bother with a second copy of the game because is will not run on anyone else's Palm in my family. However, I know a few others with adequate hardware and BT, so I'll have to give it a try later. The internet game was a snap to get into, but I have yet to see anyone else in the group. Every time I do, no one else is logged in. Guess that problem will go away once this spreads a little further. RE: 1 more reason for a Zodiac
Hey, there's a few online now... just finished playing a few games. Works pretty good, except for the chat. Messages are limited to 15 characters, even on a PC. I had to disconnect and activate my keyboard driver because trying to chat via graffiti made it even worse! At least it would not impact bandwidth. Still, it's pretty cool that someone with a PC can play against someone with a handheld. I'm going to try it later over a cell connection. PS: Hans, if you read this, I meant I was distracted by someone walking into my office. Kinda hard to dodge sticks of TNT and carry on a conversation! Good game though, I accept defeat... THIS time ;) ??FRANKY_JOE_BOB @ 9/22/2003 8:36:03 PM #
