Posted By: Ed on Monday, April 10, 2000 7:01:48 AM

mobileID has launched a free WAP browser for your Palm. You can now access over 600 mobileID sites and thousands of other wireless Internet sites created for mobile phones. Compatible with all Palm OS-based products including the Palm III, V, Handspring Visor, IBM c3 using modem or mobile phone via IR.
When a user signs up for the free mobileID service, they get a personalized mobileID e-mail and web site address for life. With mobileID, users can receive personal or corporate email, personalized content channels, smart mail forwarding, as well as a public and private online address book.

The smart mail-forwarding feature allows a mobile ID subscriber's circle of contacts to send a message to one central email address that will be intelligently routed to the subscriber. The online address book allows a subscriber to publish their contact information to their circle of contacts, facilitatating simplified communications.

This is not a new browser!
NorPilot @ 4/10/2000 6:47:16 AM #

This is not at all a new browser. This is a new version of AU Systems wap browser, apparently licensed by MobileID. When you install the browser it says in the About dialog: "AU-System WAP Browser for PalmOS ver 1.5." Strange that none of the about 10 Palm news sites that have reported on the matter didn't notice this (besides NorPilot...http://www.norpilot.no" CLASS=NEWS>http://www.norpilot.no :o) ) You can get the browser directly from AUSystem: http://www.wapguide.com/wapguide/browser.html" CLASS=NEWS>http://www.wapguide.com/wapguide/browser.html

 Is browser or service free?

I can't tell from the company website. Is it just the browser that is free or is the wireless service free?
