Galen Design Worldwide is searching for dead Palm III units to use as display models for our Color Replacement Case Kits. We need dead units that have good screens (not cracked or bleeding). Your link didn't work, so hopefully you're checking this message board. What sort of project are you working on that requires dead Palms (or rather, Palm cases)? We carry color replacement cases for the Palm III. If you are trying to put together a fantastic photo shoot of Palms, you may want to consider using our color cases!

Speaking of display units...

You might want to check the office depots, staples, et al to see what they do with their worn out 'fake' units which are usually on display in places where they can't watch for sticky fingers. Just getting one might give you ideas on how to 'fake' some display units.

As an aside, those fakes did more to keep me from buying a palm than they anything. The III's and VII's aren't too bad, once you get past the silly 'fake screen of activity' they have. But the V's? I held one in hand and wondered how anyone could buy one based on seeing these. The thing felt so poorly put together.

But what takes the cake is the new IIIc fake units. Excuse me, but how do they expect to sell a $450 product, whose main distinguishing feature is it's brilliant color screen, by showing a color picture of the screen on the fake unit?

Perhaps palm expects too much from the public-- but most non-tech people I know would base their impression on the weight and sturdiness of those fakes-and they end up not buying one because they figure Palm units fall apart after awhile just like those fake display units.

Ahh, well.

In order to give our customers the proper feel and look of our color replacement cases for Palm III, we are searching to buy your dead unit. If the screen is in good condition (not crack or bleeding), we would love to pay you $20 for it. Cracked or damaged cases are fine, since we are going to replace it anyways!

Is $20 as high as you'll go? I see them selling on eBay for typically $60.00.... Could you offer
