AvantGo Receives $31 Million in Venture Capital

AvantGo, Inc. has announced that it has secured $31 million in financing from strategic partners and private equity investors. Smaller.com is reporting that some of this money will be used create a wireless service in competition with OmniSky.

UPDATE: Thanks to Andy T for letting us know that AvantGo 3.3 is out. The new version sports support for SSL (Secure Socket Layer) and a few other enhancements for online browsing.

The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. led the investment, along with participation from American Express, Ford Motor Company, McKessonHBOC, Research In Motion Ltd. (RIM) and existing AvantGo investors, 21st Century Internet Venture Partners, H&Q Venture Associates, Adobe Ventures and Fayez Sarofim & Co.

You are absolutely right! There are so many great channels, but I can only load 22 of them on my IIIc. And I still have 3 1/2 megs of empty ram. Seems to me it shouldn't be that hard for AvantGo to load pages up to available memory. What gives? Why the 1 meg limit?
