Palm's President Promises Simplicity and Power

Palm's President Alan Kessler, in his Comdex 2000 keynote address today, declared that his company would continue to thrive based on the simplicity and expandability of the Palm platform. He said that Palm remains committed to three key elements: "simplicity, elegance, and powerful solutions."

Kessler doesn't believe that people want a PDA that does everything. He believes people want something that will make their lives easier. "Fundamentally, our customers want us to help them deliver solutions that are unlike a PC: extremely reliable, wearable and simple to use," he said.

Simplicity v. complexity

Palm OS is the way to go!
Windows CE is just too complicated.
Simplicity wins (cc to Edward DeBono...)

Keep up the good work, Palm!

The battle begins...

The problem Microsoft is going to face is managing an operating system that occupies a piece of equipment that is either an under par laptop, or an over bloated PDA. I think the general public is still trying to identify PDAs as toys, not tools. With the right combination of 3rd party software available for the Palm, you have an incredibly powerful tool. Enough to manage my personal accounts as well as my business accounts. And it synchronizes seamlessly. The new Windows (and I have nothing agains Microsoft as a company) for PDAs is just too clunky. It tries to pack so much I don'y need into it. Plus the average cost is near double against the highest price Palm. Simplicity and complexity don't necessarily come in visible packages.
