palmOne and Telcel Launch Treo 650 Smartphone in Mexico

palmOne today launched the Treo 650 smartphone with Telcel, the leading mobile communications operator in Mexico.

The Treo 650, the first all-in-one, quad-band smartphone in Mexico designed to operate with Telcel's EDGE (Enhanced Data for Global Evolution) network, combines a compact, full-featured mobile phone with email, a Palm OS organizer, messaging, web access and digital camera, enabling users to organize and simplify their business and personal lives all in one device.

"In today's world, a smartphone has become an essential tool for mobile professionals to perform their daily activities," said Miguel Hernandez, general manager of palmOne Mexico. Hernandez added that this new product is intended for all those professionals who need a device that enables them to keep in constant communication.

The Treo 650 smartphone is now available in Mexico's Distrito Federal and in the surrounding metropolitan area, and in coming weeks nationwide. The device will be available through more than 130 retail outlets as well as the Telcel authorized-distributor wide-ranging network.
