OmniSky Pricing and Beta End

Here's the scoop on the Beta wrap-up....

Dear OmniSky beta member,
As we count down to the commercial launch of the OmniSky service I want to fill you in on some of the exciting things that will be happening over the next several weeks, including a preview of our launch announcements and a sneak peak at the features of the new OmniSky service. I also want to address a couple of questions that have arisen about our upcoming OmniSky billing. The details follow, and will hopefully clarify this process. So read on to learn more. We're proud of what we've accomplished together, and can't wait for you to see the results!

Monthly Service Pricing

In early May, we will announce our monthly service pricing. New OmniSky subscribers will receive unlimited usage nationwide for $39.95 per month. However, as a beta member your charge will be $33.95 per month for unlimited nationwide use starting May 1st when the beta concludes. This represents a 15% discount off the lowest published monthly service rate, which is your lifetime discount as long as you are a continuous OmniSky subscriber. We hope you agree with us that this is a great deal.

Your OmniSky service will be charged to your credit card for each upcoming month, with the first billing period starting May 1st. While your first full month of billed service begins in May, some users will see a pro-rata charge on their credit card in April. This is a partial monthly service charge for the month of May. Here is how this is computed:

Your monthly OmniSky service will be charged to your credit card based on the day your service began (your anniversary day). For example, if your anniversary day is January 10th, you will be billed on the 10th day of each month. The first OmniSky charge on your credit card statement will be a pro-rated amount for your service between May 1 and your service anniversary day. Then, on your May anniversary day, you will be billed for the entire first full month of service. Your card will then be charged on your anniversary day each month from that point forward.

New Software and Services

Based on the insightful feedback we received during the beta we have greatly enhanced the OmniSky service for launch. Improvements include:

- A new unified user interface that gives you access to all OmniSky features in one place
- A simplified way to launch the OmniSky interface, with just one push of that *mysterious* button on the modem
- A much easier install, and one that does not change the Palm operating system - The ability to forward attachments that you can't download, to any email address
- Improved support of SSL applications
- Improved speed and reliability
- Many bug fixes
- Preserving the unaltered Palm Application launcher (Launch'em will still be provided as an option)
- Email notification that you control using filters
- Many new content feeds from a wide array of premium content providers
- Improved and expanded customer and technical support
- Better information systems for customer support
- Much, much more to be announced in the next week


As a beta user, we of course want you to have this software before anyone else. Within the next few weeks, we will make the new OmniSky software available at http://www.omnisky.com/support. We will send you an email as soon as the installer is available for download. Until then, if you have not yet upgraded to Beta Release 2.0, please do it now. You will find Beta Release 2.0 at http://www.omnisky.com/support/license.html. Installing a standard Palm OS (3.3 or 3.5) and upgrading to 2.0 will make upgrading to the release version of OmniSky simpler.
