Unlocked Centro Now Available in Hong Kong and Singapore

Unlocked Centro AsiaPalm is now offering an Unlocked GSM version of the Palm Centro in select asian countries. Palm's Hong Kong and Singapore websites now advertise the availability of a Glacier White Centro with a grey accented keypad.

Neither site is showing an official price or availability date. The "buy page" currently lists a directory of retailers. Crave is reporting that it will go on sale on March 6 in Singapore for S$598.

The Palm Centro is a quad-band GSM/EDGE smartphone running Palm OS Garnet v5.4.9. It has a 320x320 pixel touchscreen display, Bluetooth v1.2, a 1.3 megapixel digital camera with video capture and 64MB of memory. For memory expansion it has a microSD slot.

The Centro has dimensions of 4.22" (L) x 2.11" (W) x 0.73" (D) (107 x 54 x 18.5 mm) and weighs in at 4.2 oz (119g). Palm's imaginary battery life rating is 4 hours talk time with 300 hours standby. It has a 1150 mAh capacity.

I took delivery yesterday of a black UK version in HK thru a dealer with outlets in HK and the UK. They shipped the units from London to launch in HK. The white units are coming a week or so later I was told so a 6 March date is probably right.

My colleagues are all jealous....looks like the Centro will be a hit in HK. FYI, the price on the black unit was about USD300.
