StyleTap Inc. has announced they are bringing their StyleTap CrossPlatform to the Symbian OS. The StyleTap CrossPlatform is compatible with most applications written for Palm OS, and will enable most Palm OS software to run on current and future Symbian smartphones.
StyleTap is demonstrating CrossPlatform at the Symbian Smartphone Show in London, and expects to ship the product in the first quarter of 2008. Pricing has not yet been finalized. StyleTap CrossPlatform will support Symbian smartphones based on UIQ 3 and S60 3rd Edition. StyleTap is already available for Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphone operating systems. TamsPalm has posted a few pictures and a short video of StyleTap for Symbian OS at the Symbian Smartphone show.

I couldn't disagree more. I understand that it has limitations, and it did take us a bit of work to fully leverage StyleTap, but we have had a HUGE return on investment from it. Some of our biggest customers run very complex projects on WinMob devices, and StyleTap has been incredibly reliable for them. It's exceeded my expectations in a big way. That said, we are a B2B application provider and our customers generally don't mind investing the time and money it takes to install StyleTap in order to run our software on their device of choice. I understand that for consumer apps which will not drive the adoption of StyleTap, but rather aim to sit on top of it as an already-installted platform, it's probably not as attractive. I just had to throw in my 2 cents from a company that has made great use of the StyleTap platform. Mark Cameron Techneos Systems RE: StyleTap is a huge ripoff
True. Most developers who support StyleTap have to include new 320x240 bitmaps which makes the app bigger. once they do this then it looks very good but only 1% of developers who do this and most developers dont even support their app anymore. the only drawback to Styletap is that it does not emulate the Treo and only the core palmOS which is not good. Most new apps are written for the Treo. StyleTap iPhone experimentbobatstyletap @ 2/22/2008 5:05:25 PM #
Just thought you might be interested in this. We're not ready to announce an official StyleTap for iPhone/Touch version yet, but we have done some experimentation with it. Here's a short video of what it looks like so far: http://www.viddler.com/styletap/videos/1 It looks promising. This experimental version can run ARMlets and because of the screen size uses hi-res (double density) bitmaps and fonts. Bob Chew RE: StyleTap is a huge ripoff
Wow! Looks great Bob. Can you do 320X480?
Hope this gets released and that I can use it without needing to jailbreak my iPhone. Handyshopper, Rocketmania, Chuzzle , GolfPad, STRIP (password tool for the uninitiated), Tide Tool, and a bunch of other apps can't wait to meet my iPhone. Any chance on being able to translate contact and datebook entries to iPhone native entries so I could use some Palm apps with iPhone data?
