Palm Security Panel Update & Euro LifeDrive Update

Palm support has released Security Panel Update 1.0 for the Palm TX, LifeDrive, Tungsten T5, E2 and Zire 72. This update addresses an issue with the Intrusion Protection feature on your device. It allows your device to reset the incorrect password counter to zero each time you enter the correct password.

International LifeDrive Update 2.0
Palm's European website has posted the international version of the LifeDrive 2.0 update. This update includes improved Wi-Fi performance, better sound quality and a number of other updates.

Thanks to PalmAddicts for the tip.

Tungsten E3?

I did a double take there :-)
You mean the E2 (according to Palm's website anyway).

Itīs strange. The file for the Lifedrive Update 2.0 in the Europe sites are same size and same dates as the US version.

Anyone tried succesfully?

Juan.

I have an International Language LifeDrive ( i.e. when I reset it allows me to select from one of five languages ) and have had no problems with the update.

I agree with you however that the update posted on the European site is identical to that posted on the USA site.

Are the people who are experiencing problems updating their International language LifeDrives using a language other than English. I assume the reason I have experienced no problems is that I use English.

Unfortunately I don't currently have my LifeDrive at the moment as it is back at Palm getting repaired. Shortly after doing the update the universal connector port on the bottom started to become loose and I've been experiencing problems with the connector and cradle. To reliably Hotsync I have to flex the cable to one side in the port.

This will be the seconf time I have had to send the LifDrive back to Palm for a replacement. My first unit just dies completely after a soft reset one day. Not very happy...

Should I update v.10 of Security on my T5?

stephanie @ 12/10/2005 1:51:04 AM # Q
The palm website, http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/securitypanel.html
says to check to see whether you already have the current version installed:

"Look for the Security item in the list. What version do you see?
5.0.1P or 5.0.4 or 5.0.4P: You should install this update. Proceed with the steps below.
5.0.5PM: Your device is already updated. Stop here; you're done. "

I don't have any of the versions listed above on my Tungsten T5.

This is what i have:

Security v.10.0
Security App Patch v.1.0

Should I update?

I asked the same on the discussion forum: see http://www.palminfocenter.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29547

No replies as yet. But I would be grateful to know too, as I am in the same position as you, Stephanie.

[bump]

There must be someone out there who could answer this.

Or are you all just ignoring the update and not bothering to install it?
