Rhodes joined Palm from PSC, Inc. -- a maker of barcode-scanning technologies used in retail checkout, inventory management, shipping and parcel sorting -- where he was a senior vice president responsible for manufacturing and the supply chain. Prior to working for two years at PSC, he served in a series of operations positions at Motorola Inc., for 25 years, culminating in being vice president for the company's Americas Supply Chain Operations, personal communications sector. His earlier work experience was with Ford Motor Co. and FMC Corp.

"Ron's nearly 30 years' experience in supply-chain operations and manufacturing plus his proven ability to scale for fast-growing marketplaces makes him the perfect addition to the Palm executive team," Colligan said. "He has distinguished himself in supply-chain management at two companies, including one of the world's leading telephone-handset makers. We're confident Ron will help Palm take full advantage of the company's potential, especially as it relates to the emerging global market for smartphones."

Rhodes has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Bellarmine College, Louisville, KY.
