New Wallpaper Pack for Mobile Devices

Nice Treo/Palm Wallpaper Pack

Gx5 let me know that they have just released a new exclusive mobile wallpaper pack for Palm devices. These wallpapers have been meticulously designed for handheld and smartphone screens. The artist set out to create refreshingly vibrant backgrounds that will captivate and inspire you. I have tried a few on my treo and I have to say they are some quite attractive designs.

The WallPaper pack includes 14 different images in four main themes: Fields, Skies, Cool and Organic. You can use the images as a background in your treo phone app, launcher or favorites, and also as a backdrop for the agenda view in the calendar. They are all available in 320x320, 320x480 and 240x240 (700w) pixel resolutions. The full set sells for $4.95.

Not for Treo it's not!

It's funny that a Treo 650 is depicted in the story because that device doesn't support the same background wallpaper feature on other Palm devices. The only application that can take advantage is the agenda view in Calendar.

Speaking of which, is there a third party app that enables wallpaper support for Treo?

they do work on the Treo 650 & 700w

I'm using one of the images as the wallpaper in the phone screen (menu > options > general prefs in the dialing app). But you're right Kent, for some reason the 650 does not support wallpaper in the default app launcher like most other Palm devices, which is kinda odd.

Also, ZLauncher is an excellent replacement launcher:

Look great, but...

These indeed look nice, but for no apparent reason, the Organic pics crash Initiate on my Treo 650 if used for a wallpaper in that application.

I was wrong in my previous post. The Organic ones work. The Cool ones do not. Sorry for the mixup.

Problem solved

To use the Cool wallpapers in Initiate, they just need to be compressed and they work fine. I simply opened them in MS Office Picture Manager, comopressed them to 160x160 and then opened them in Paint and doubled the size to 320x320 (which still makes the pics smaller kilobyte-wise, and they now work fine.

The do indeed look good. Worth $4.95. Well done.
