Geodesic has announced the launch of beta version of Mundu Radio, an new mobile internet streaming radio service. Mundu Radio offers free access to unlimited music or broadcast content of choice to its users from any part of the world on their mobile devices.
Mundu Radio operates on mobile phones with internet connection (GPRS - CDMA and GSM) and also over Wi-Fi. This service is compatible with popular handsets based on Symbian, Windows Mobile and the Palm OS platform. All Palm OS devices with OS 5.2 or higher are supported. The beta version of the product is available for free download at the Mundu Radio website.

Its perfect! Only I need to upgrade my Zire 72 to the upcoming (I hope) Zire 73, who will have WiFi and 320x480 pixels screen. But unfortunately Palm in the last time is making only cellphones (with windows inside).  RE: Mundu Radio
The Palm TX is anything but a cellphone, and it has wifi, bluetooth, a 480x320 screen, and oodles of memory.
Having said that, the current MunduRadio doesn't yet do 480x320, but will always display as 320x320 (for now). It's on my bitch-list to the developers. :)
Nice idea, but needs some work
It runs fine on my TX, and the buffer over wifi only takes a few seconds, but I bet over EDGE or GPRS its painful. Also, the radio selection is rather limited, not something to pull me away from my iPod. Also, sound quality was pretty low, it was overall rather tinny. If they can offer more variety to the stations and increase the sound quality, this could be a great product. Now a server that runs on your PC to allow you to stream content from your PC to your connected device (especially video), that's a nice idea! RE: Nice idea, but needs some work
Heh - I think you missed the second part of the equation:
Go to http://radio.mundu.com, log in, and add more stations to your playlist (in the future, there will be a master list to pick from as well). So you want higher quality? Can be done. Just add a high-bitrate encoded channel, such as RadioVerve at 72.232.54.2:11000 (128 kbps) or 72.232.54.2:9000 (64 kbps) (RadioVerve is at http://radioverve.com) The radio player will play any bitrate you can throw it - the default set of stations is aimed at GPRS listeners to avoid overwhelming their connections. ummm, yeah... how much...?
I need a few more days to finish reading their entire EULA... Afterward, I'm curious how much do they want for this once the "beta" is over? And, what should compel a Palm user to purchase a "subscription" of Mundu over just buying a license for Pockettunes which seems to do much of the same? Although it's nice this supports Palm devices, they are probably wise to pitch it to the other mobile devices that don't have the decent options that we do. Personally, I hate most "subscription" services as they are often ridiculously restrictive and you're often stuck with whatever they decide to feed you. And the EULAs are often more complex than a mortgage agreement. RE: ummm, yeah... how much...?
Fair question. The answer is - the beta is free, and if you don't like it (or any future subscription charges), freedom is just a delete away :)
Remember, what you see now is just the first step - things are going to improve as users (you!) give feedback on both the application and the service.
