DialByPhoto Version 1.0 Released

Posted By: Ryan on Thursday, February 08, 2007 9:55:31 AM

DialbyPhoto - Palm SoftwareDialByPhoto version 1.0 has just been released from Gx5. DialByPhoto for your Treo lets you speed dial your favorite acquaintances that you call regularly with photo icons.

The app replaces the usual Treo phone application, while still leaving it available. It allows you to customize the layout and behavior of your dialing screen in a number of new ways. It also includes some nice call management features including Ignore by SMS and a built in list of predefined SMS responses. v1.0 also adds the ability to search the web and other online services from the phone screen.

DialByPhoto is available now for $14.95 (it is currently on sale for a few days for $11.95). It includes a free trial and is compatible with the Treo 650, 680 and 700p.

 Painfully slow on my 700P

Wow cool looking program, but it is almost unbearably slow on my 700P.

I will try it for a few days, but so far I am not liking the snail's pace of this program.

Snappier on my 680 after a hard reset
+Kardboard+ @ 2/9/2007 1:40:23 AM #

Initially when I first used this program it was sluggish and the phone app's integration was unstable. Turns out it was skinUI and some other gunk (still not sure what) that was messing things up. A hard reset and clean installs of all my programs (sans skinUI) results in a fairly snappy DialByPhoto, as well as full functionality.

 Call Waiting

Unfortunately it doesn't properly handle Call Waiting yet. You have to use the original phone app to manage your on-hold call.
