Classic 2.0 Released for webOS

hotsync classic demo MotionApps has released version 2.0 of its Classic application for webOS. The new version brings a number of improvements and new functionality to the webOS Palm OS emulator. First and foremost, MotionApps has brought HotSync support to the Pre and have posted a detailed tutorial on getting setup with HotSync.

In addition, the company says users can now utilize Palm OS apps in full screen mode and they have improved reset functionality, reduced idle power consumption and have added a new "ClassicApps" budge, which can automatically install a collection of over 20 free Palm OS titles and demos with a single click.

Classic 2.0 is a free update for all registered users of v1.0 or v1.1. It is available now from the Palm App Catalog.

what would be cool

What would be cool is if classic could virtualize sessions so that each could run as a separate process on the pre. Probably more work than anyone wants to do though.

What would be really cool is if Palm released the native compiler that this was written with for other developers. Yes, I know I'm harping but someone needs to keep this banner up.

That would be cool indeed. But right now I'd just settle for being able to Hotsync over wifi or Bluetooth. Sure, it's on the feature list for 2.0 but I still haven't been able to do a successful Hotsync.

Given that Palm OS didn't really offer any memory protection and multiple apps could access the same databases (which I assume also weren't protected from concurrent access, and even if not developers probably assumed), that doesn't seem like such a good idea.

... all those people who were tagged "Official Palm Pre Reviewers" and got free units to blab about. All I've seen of them is ONE guy. Anyone else seen them blab elsewhere?

I've seen two of them, both at Precentral. rizp, who's a med student (i think?) and Jonathan Ezor (the PalmPreLawyer guy).

But I thought there were more than that. wonder where they are...
