FlipCase for Palm VII & Symbol SPT 1500

Synergy Solutions announced a new model of its popular FlipCase protector designed for use with the Palm VII and the Symbol SPT 1500. The FlipCase has been specifically designed to allow owners of the Palm VII to enjoy easy operation of the wireless antenna to access timely information on-the-go and permit users of the Symbol SPT 1500 to utilize the built-in bar code scanner all without removing the FlipCase.

You may have seen that high tech Palm controlled Miata awhile back, now Joel from PDA Geek has a good interview with the man behind the machine. This car has got to be the ultimate dream vehicle for all Techies.

New Palms and price cuts

Palm cut prices today on the launch of the new Palm Vx and Palm VII. The Palm VII now costs $499, down from $599. There are also new wireless payment plans on Palm.net. There's more on the price cuts here. Check Palm.com for the latest prices and details. Also Amazon.com released a Palm VII app that will allow you to purchase best sellers anywhere.

Motorola Acquires Metroworks

I found this on Eric Giguere's site Motorola Canada, Subsidiary of the Company that makes Palm Dragonball processors, acquired Metroworks. Metroworks makes the popular compiler, CodeWarrior, for the Palm OS & other platforms. You can read more in this Press release.

Visor on Video

Palm Vx out Moday 10/4

Once again C|Net has the scoop on the Palm Vx. This article claims that Palm will officially launch the Palm Vx and Palm VII on Monday Oct 4. The Palm Vx will ship with OS 3.3 with 8 megs of RAM and reportedly runs on a faster processor. The Palm VII will also be available nationwide.

Palm VII email solutions

Palm.net, the web site for Palm VII based wireless apps, has added a section detailing various wireless-mail solutions available for the Palm VII, including access to POP3, IMAP, and corporate e-mail. Originally, Palm received a lot of flack about shipping a device that only allowed access to their palm.net e-mail accounts. It's nice to see Palm embracing the developer communities' contribution to the Palm Platform.

UGeek.com adds PDAGeek feature section

UGeek.com has added a new PDA FEATURES section. Today's feature is the continuing debate over Palm vs. WindowsCE. Check it out here. They've also added some new PDA horror stories.

Visor will ship in 2 weeks

Jeff Hawkins announced at the PricewaterhouseCoopers 1999 Global Convergence Summit conference in New York, that the Visor will ship in two weeks. Hawkins also mentioned that HandSpring will add Bluetooth wireless communication technology, to its line of products. Read more in this Techweb article.

Palm rip-offs pale in comparison

Dan Briody has good editorial on why the Palm OS is superior to Windows CE. He compares Windows CE and the new Aero 1530 to the Palm Platform. He has this to say about MS attempts to copy Palms' success,
"Microsoft has exploited this phenomenon many times to its own benefit. In fact, the software giant practically has made copying others' designs part of its general business practices."
