Color Clié Coming to the U.S. this January?

MSNBC is reporting a conversation with a Sony representative who, when asked when the color version of the Clié would enter the U.S. market, said “Well, we have a big trade show in January.” This is a reference to the Consumer Electronics Show, January 6-9 in Las Vegas.

The same article goes on to say that GoAmerica will be a wireless service provider for the Clié, though no details have been released yet.

Big deal! I've seen pictures of the new color Palm V .... it's beautiful!!!! Not to mention, it's due out early next year (Feb.\March 2001). It has a expansion slot too. Don't purchase the Sony until you see the color V device.

I've heard of the upcoming Palm Vc that combines the Palm V form factor with a color display but haven't yet seen pictures of it. Can you fill me in on where I can find these pictures? Thanks.

Don't feed the monkey! He's obviously a troll merely trying to gain notoriety with bragging rights that he has "seen" pictures of the Palm Vc, which is a total load of crap. He has seen nothing, and is a liar.

So please, don't encourage him by asking him for pictures or information.

He reminds me of Kormac76 from Appleinsiders message boards.

Yeah, if you've ever been to a Best Buy store, in the PDA section the have a poster that has a picture of a palm V with a color screen. It's totally doctored and shameful that Palm hasn't caught them doing it. We've all seen the picture buddy. It was made almost a year ago and it was a mistake. Still, every time i walk by it i think "if only!" I would buy it in a second, i don't care about an expansion slot.

I can't wait!!

I am awaiting the arrival of Visor Prism but now it seems that Sony is trying to boost their market through the intro of their Color CLIE. I think my choice will still be Handspring cos its so COOL!!

Palm Vc? Where?

Eston Bond @ 11/16/2000 9:54:00 PM #
All these rumors about a color Palm V always lead to dead ends. The fact of the matter is that Palm has failed to produce. They need to get their head out of their @$$ and see the Pocket PC is gaining market share. Fast. Yeah, I have a Palm Vx, but the HP Jornada 548 is looking nice. It's sad, Palm, when your own dev base is saying this.

Color Palm V

I.M. Anonymous @ 11/17/2000 3:48:09 PM #
Hi guys!! The last person to post a message was right about one thing ...... there are no pictures of the color Palm V on the web. He's wrong about everything else though. If I was interested in "notoriety rights", why would I be posting messages anonymously? I thought long and hard prior to posting my first message about the color V. My reason for posting ....... You see, I've read so many articles about Palm "losing their touch", "Palm is nothing without Jeff H.", ect. Frankly, the people who write these articles have no idea what they're talking about. Why don't they? Because, unlike me, the Palm team knows how to keep their mouths shut. First, I'd like to share a few thoughts:
Palm has always been a "team" who prides themselves on providing the public with products they can be proud of. Products produced because they work ...... not produced because the "competition is gaining ground". Think about it ...... PC PDA's and other PDA manufacturer's products may have the ability to be converted into a cell phone, mp3 player, etc., however, when all the hype is gone (not to mention all the money spent for the add-on's), how often will those add-on's be used? I can see it now ..... "I'll give Susan a call and ask if she wants to see a movie with us. Waite a minute Steve, I have to look through my bag of PDA attachments for my cell phone module". How about that MP3 player (included on the device or external module)? Do you really want the added risk of dropping your PDA or losing it at the gym? How about hunting around for replacement batteries or someplace to recharge (assuming you've purchased yet another add-on ...... a battery pack or travel charger). All because you thought the add-on's would make your life easier. Technology is not there yet!!! ....... close but no cigar!!!! The Palm team already knows this. I never thought I would say this about an electronic device ....... but ..... my Palm device is my "lifeline" to everything and everyone around me. Without it, I'm up sh*t's creek without a paddle. Sure, I have all my PDA information backed up on my computer, however, the information stored on my device is too valuable and is needed on-call ...... not to mention I don't have extra money to spend on a replacement device. Until all the goodies can be incorporated into one device (without the need to hawl around a bunch of attachments), Palm will keep it simple ........ that's smart!!!! That's "Simply Palm". I have to give some credit to Sony though ..... they know the technology is not there yet. That's why they followed Palm's lead by producing a simple (yes, even handsome) pda product.

As for the color Palm V ..... you don't know who I am or whether you can trust my words ..... but .... I stand by what was posted in my first message. BTW- this will be my last posting regarding this subject ...... I LOVE my job and wanna keep it.

Whether you BSed about seeing the Vc or not or whether you work at palm (or something else that was implied) or not, I still like your words.

Ok, so I told a "little white lie" ....... my last posting was not really my last posting :-). This will be my last posting (at least 95% sure) now that I can kick back and envision the gentleman who called me a liar stuffing his face with his words ........ you know, the gentleman who stated I was lying about the info I posted on the soon-to-be-released Palm color V. Be sure to eat everything on your plate young man , or, guess who's gonna eat leftovers tomorrow?! na, na, na, na, na, na :-P.

Here ya go guys ............

Palm Vc Available in March 2001
Posted by: Spaghetti on Thursday, November 09, 2000 8:31:31 AM
The WebStandard has an interview (in German) with Markus Bregler, Chief of Palm Central Europe. Bregler confirmed that there will be a "Palm Vc" (however the name was not confirmed) presented at the Cebit (March 22-28, 2001). The device will also be available at this time. It will have color, SD-Card slot, and the new OS. Again it has not been confirmed that it will be called "Palm OS 4" but it will be a "major update" and include multimedia features.
Bregler also said that Palm did want to publish the OS 3.5 Update for free but the SEC wouldn't allow it because of the IPO.

Finally, some news on Linux support by Palm should be expected at the PalmSource in Santa Clara. For more details you should perhaps try your luck with Babelfish, the online translator.

Well, I'm the guy who called you a liar, and I stand by what I said.

All I can say now is, so what! This still doesn't prove that you have seen the Color Palm Vc, or what it looks like. A color Palm is coming in March. Great, tell me something I didn't know! We already know Palm was releasing a color V series device by early next year. You have confirmed nothing.

Needless to say, I won't be eating any humble pie just yet. But I'll keep it warm for you just in case. ;-P

Cheers!
