Access Desktop Content Wirelessly with ZFrame

ZFrame is going to demonstrate a beta of its new application at TECHXNY this week. This client-server app will allow users to wirelessly access e-mail with attachments, Web pages, Word documents, or Excel spreadsheets, all from inside the same application.

ZFrame's pop-up and zoom-in features allow the user to access and interact with full desktop content on handheld devices. The user taps the stylus across the page and the contents are revealed as dynamic pop-ups. They can zoom in or click on hyperlinks, enter searches, fill out forms, and more.

The ZFrame client browser and content server retrieves full desktop content while preserving the original content and graphics, and provides an interface that is as familiar as the user's own personal desktop. Because ZFrame uses visual navigation instead of scrolling, the user has a better sense of where they are on a page. The ZFrame format also streamlines the protocols and client software, reduces the waiting time for viewing a page and helps manage network client and server loads.

With itsZ-mode feature, developers can build handheld content and applications using standard HTML tools. Z-mode directly maps the page layout to the small screen with pixel-accurate precision, and allows users to intermix and cross-link between customized Z-mode and standard Web pages.

ZFrame is a network service accessed through the user's existing wireless connection and wireless service provider. A beta version of ZFrame for Palm OS will be available in July, priced at $25 for two months of beta service. After the beta period, the service will cost $22.50 a month. The ZFrame Enterprise Edition's cost depends on the number of licenses.

This is getting to be more common. How many people lined up to pay for the betas of MS Windows and OS X? And I think this one actually makes a little bit of sense. You will be using their servers. Didn't they charge for the beta of OmniSky?

Ok, that is SO sweet. Hopefully they will sell the ability for other browsers to integrate it. I'd love to see blazer do that. My bob.....that is sweet.

This is ridiculous. Why should I pay for a Beta TEST of their product. They will be making 22.50 a month. I would hate to visit their website I may have to pay for that too! Whats next?

I haven't seen VNC, but I did see ZFrame. They sound similar, but I think they're actually quite different. Not being familiar with VNC, I can't specify how. But that VNC screen snap I saw at that site is not at all like ZFrame.

I already have an unlimited wireless modem service w/ GoAmerica for my Palm BUT Im NOT willing to pay any more monthly fees! I might want to buy this application though.

Unable to scale down PalmVnc when connected

Hi there,
I am using PalmVnc on a Palm m100, got connected to my home pc but unable to scale down to fit the Palm Screen. When I try to scale down, it prompt "Lost Connection". I am using VNC Server from AT&T. Please advice.
