A New Way to Blog From Your Handheld

Hexlet Software has released a new blogging application for Palm OS devices. The app interfaces with many popular blogging tools to give you a new mobile way to blog.

HBlogger allows you to compose and draft blog entries on the road or where ever you are. You can also prepare and send posts to several different blogs at the same time.

The current beta program supports three major online blogging services: LiveJournal, Blogger and Movable Type. It supports multiple accounts, downloading a list of previous entries and other service specific features. You can also upload images from memory cards as well as pictures from the Treo 600 images database.

The beta version requires Palm OS 3.5 or above and a internet connection. If you are unfamiliar with the concept of blogging, you may want to read Blogging 101. If you do not have your own blog, you can create one for free at either Live Journal or Blogger.

Can we get a survey here...

I just wanted to know, among PIC readers, how common blogging from your handheld is? Does anyone here actually blog from your Palm powered device, or even truly want to?

I do, all the time.

But since Blogger allows emailing in posts, I do all my blogging from SnapperMail. Having the "Send URL" options in Blazer and WebPro on my Treo is like having the "Blog This!" extension on my desktop browser.

It's a nice seamless process, since after the email goes out, you get dropped right back into the web page you were viewing.

I've done this on occasion. The "Combee on Palm OS" site uses a desktop-based CMS system that doesn't support this kind of functionality, but other blogs that I run handle it. I did several posts to one of them when I was on the road at the PalmSource 2004 show.

I occasionally update my Xanga from my CLIE. I use Netfront, with the Xanga site itself, though. Can be a pain sometimes but is usually hassle-free.

I've blogged a few times from my handheld. Much prefer to do it wifi style from the patio. ;-)

I'll be doing it a lot more now that I have a Bluetooth phone to go with my Zod. That was the only thing holding me up.

Oh poo

It needs a real-time connection.
I'd like a program that'd let me take a pic on my Zire71, add a comment and then hotsync and it'll post it to my blogger account.

I don't think you understand the gravity of the situation. We're in space.

Then you need this application: ForPhotos from http://www.forallsystems.com/forphotos.shtml

It was noted here on PIC last October in the article http://www.palminfocenter.com/view_story.asp?ID=6105
