Comments on: Possible Palm Gandolf Specifications

Rumor: The IntoMobile blog, is running an unsubstantiated rumor report on the possible specs of the rumored Palm Treo "Gandolf". In short, the device is expected to be radical departure from current Treos in both formfactor and screen technology.

It is expected to be the first non-touchscreen Treo, and could come in two editions. One for Windows Mobile 6 Standard (smartphone edition) and another with a new version of Palm OS that is designed for use without a touchscreen. No word if this is a Linux-based version of Palm OS or if there will be a Garnet emulation player. Additional details reveal Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support and full EVDo/HSDPA 3g onnectivity. Screen size is reportted to be 2.4" QVGA non-touchscreen with 65k color depth. No word if the Palm version and WM6 version will share screen size and resolution.

hmm if it's non touch screen, why do the rendered images have a graphical keypad on them?

iphone gets a touch screen and your palm treo loses one.

if they keep taking away features, what will we be left with?

I don't believe there will be a non-touch Palm OS Garnet whatsoever. Looks like the blog site is making stuff up if we are to actually believe this.

I don't even think palm is that stupid to take away the only thing that actually sets the Palm OS appart, plus it would break about 90% of all the palmos apps out there already.

Considering that the touch screen on my TX is one of the reasons I like it, and that I hate thumbboards, I have only one response to this doctored photo...

BRING IT ON! I'd sell plasma if it'd get something like this.

I love big touch screens and graffiti. I hate thumboards. Just twhen I thought my Treo 680 was as lame as a device get (awfully late, badly designed, low quality, obselete OS, etc) Palm comes up with Foleo and Gandolf ... Thank God I've never sold my TT3.

AD2P! It may not be innovation, but at least it's top notch. Not in a iPhone

The revolutionary iphone has has a touch screen. Microsoft has a tabletop touch-screen they're debuting later this year. Palm, the company that made touch screen computing devices popular, now leaves it off an a new product. Where's the progress?

Palm like it's 1999.
