ActiveSky has agreed with Handspring to allow the new Prism and Platinum Visors to support ActiveSky’s media player, which lets users view and share video, animation, graphics, and enhanced text on their handheld. Users can download visual media to play later as well as stream it directly to their handhelds. ActiveSky has signed content providers to distribute news, sports, entertainment, and educational short programs. ActiveSky is one of a handful of companies Handspring is working with to provide applications for the Prism and Platinum. “It made perfect sense for us to work with a recognized leader in innovation like Handspring, which has a full line of handheld devices to fit every consumer,” Scott Marquardt, ActiveSky's CEO said. “We’re a great fit for Handspring because we can deliver the high quality, high resolution visual media that complements the company’s entire line of handhelds.” “ActiveSky’s media player brings color video and animation to life,” Handspring VP Joe Sipher said. “Handspring users count on us to integrate the newest applications that take advantage of our products’ enhanced features. By working with ActiveSky, we are now equipping users, for the first time, with the ability to enjoy visually-rich media like never before.” ActiveSky’s player allows for media play in black-and-white, grayscale and color, conforming to the capabilities of each product.
