Visors to be Sold at Wal-Mart

Posted By: Ed on Monday, November 13, 2000 1:19:00 PM

Handspring today announced that, starting later this month, Wal-Mart Stores will begin selling Visors, accessories, and select Springboards in 500 stores nationwide. Handspring's products will also be available on the Wal-Mart Web site. This announcement is part of Handspring's drive to increase its U.S. retail presence. Last month, the company announced that Visors would soon be available at Target stores.

Greg Woock, vice president of North American sales for Handspring, said, "As the handheld computing market continues to grow, relationships with global retail leaders like Wal-Mart will help extend Handspring's reach into the consumer market. Wal-Mart offers a unique geographic profile that puts Handspring where people want to buy handheld computers, both in-store and online and affords us the opportunity to expand into diverse markets where we have not yet established inroads."

 Wal-Mart Discount?

I wonder if the Visor accessories will be discounted at Wall-Mart. That would be nice. On the other hand, I have so pretty deep philosophical problems with Wal-Mart so I probably wouldn't buy anything from them, no matter how cheap.

First Target, now Wal-Mart. Handspring is doing the buisness-smart thing and marketing the Visor to the masses. I hope Palm is watching this.

If they are going to sell in Walmart, I hope they educate the sales people on what you can do with a Visor so that if customers have questions or doubts, they can get some answers.

It's time for Palm to realize that if they are trying to sell the "simplicity" of the Palm compared to other PDA'S (i.e. Compaq's, etc.) that they need to get out of Circuit City & sell to the masses.
