Handspring and eLance today announced the launch of an online marketplace for Handspring developers, partners, and service providers to do business with each other. The site, at www.elance.com/handspring, will focus on bringing professionals together in the areas of business strategy, Springboard module development, Palm OS software development, mechanical and industrial design, Web design and development, and graphic design. Visitors can offer and contract such services as contributing to the development of a Springboard module as a marketing consultant or engineer, writing Palm OS applications, developing a driver, or designing a module casing. Developers seeking services can post a project in the developer marketplace at no cost, receive bids from service providers, and then award the project to the most attractive bid. Professionals providing services create a service profile, bid on projects, and accept projects from others on the site. "Developers have always been an important part of the great success of the handheld industry. Our new online marketplace gives these people the tools they need to meet and conduct business with other developers and professionals in a convenient location,'' said Ed Colligan, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Handspring. "By integrating eLance's innovative and successful marketplace with our Web site, we can empower our developers and customers with an easy one-stop solution for sourcing all their Handspring services needs.''
