Sieze the Day with this GSM Phone Clip-On
REALVison will soon release the Carpe Diem V, a dual-band GSM phone with voice and data capabilities. It snaps onto the back and bottom of the Palm V or Vx and can wake the handheld when a call or SMS message is received. It comes with its own rechargeable li-ion battery that offers 220-280 minutes of talk time and 52-80 hours of standby time. It will be commercially available on April 17 in Hong Kong for US$409.
It is 4.8 inches (5.3" w/ antenna) long, 3.1 inches wide, and .7 inches thick. It weighs 5 ounces (8.8 with Palm).
It comes with three applications. REALPhone offers direct dialing or from the Address Book, call forwarding, Caller ID, and a roaming status indicator. REALSMS allows sending/receiving SMS messages and storing them on a SIM card or on the Palm. Web Clipping is Palm's technology for using small applets to access the the Web.
The Carpe Diem V can be used as a phone without being connected to a Palm. When this is happening, SMS messages are stored for later use.
It comes with a battery charger, power adapter and a headset.
The Product Launch Ceremony will be held at the Commercial Applications for PDA Event in the Hong Kong Conference & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
