Mark/Space has released Missing Sync 3.0, which allows most Sony Cliés to HotSync with Macs using Palm Desktop 4.0 under OS X. In addition to OS X support, the new version includes support for Apple's iTunes, iPhoto and the new Sony NR70 and NR70V. It also allows many Sony models to mount Memory Sticks on their desktops as a removable drive. Missing Sync 3.0 costs $30. The iTunes Plug-In allows MP3 capable handhelds to be used as an iTunes source. The iPhoto Plug-In allows selected photos to be exported to the handheld. It supports JPEG and PictureGear Pocket formats. There is a free upgrade for everyone who purchased Missing Sync after March 1. It requires a USB Mac with OS 10.1.4 or later and Palm Desktop 4.0. Though there is a version of Palm Desktop 4.0 for OS 9, Missing Sync 3.0 doesn't work with it. People who aren't using OS X should get Missing Sync 2.2.1. In addition, devices running Palm OS 3.5 will not work with the new version. Unfortunately, the S series can't mount Memory Sticks on their desktops or use the iTunes and iPhoto plug-ins. The Missing Sync is used by Mac users because Sony doesn't offer a version of the Palm Desktop that runs under the Mac OS. However, many users of Palm Desktop 4.0, recently released by Palm Inc. itself, have reported that it will HotSync with some Clié models without the help of Missing Sync. However, it doesn't offer the extra features of Mark/Space's app. It is, on the other hand, free. Related Information:

Does anyone else notice this? I can get my OS X Flatscreen iMac to sync fine, but the MSImport seems really flaky right now. Anyone else notice see this?

I knew it was only the 3 mac users on earth that were complaining about Mac support in new pda's. You 3 sure do get around. ;) RE: Only 3 mac users have Pda's
Nah, there's 4 of us! :) I have a Visor Prism though, so this news doesn't really affect me. I am tempted by that NR-70V... this just makes it more tempting! RE: Only 3 mac users have Pda'sI.M. Anonymous @ 6/6/2002 6:46:36 PM #
Make that 5! Oops... I mean 6. Almost forgot to include the wife! Now 6, that's a respectable number ;-) joe sixpack sees a Apple ad on tv and gets angryI.M. Anonymous @ 6/6/2002 6:50:18 PM #
The reason why Mac user are not complaining as much as the rest of the PC pack is that they run a modern and ultra stable soft & hardware and do not have so much to complain about - they even can get (with their Apple Script & Unix / Liniux based kernel) around all feasble problems. Of couse - a Mac is not for everyone - there have to be a differnece between joe six-pack and a eloquent gentleman. Its true that there are more jo six-packs around then fine gentleman - and you hear the rumbling pack a lot louder - but this does not mean that the elegant guys do not exist - they keep away from you and ger productive with their refined tools - so you do not see them, and do not hear them - normally... Usually, there would be a great deal of flames for posting that! But OS X users know that by NOT using a mac you are already punishing yourself enough :o) RE: Only 3 mac users have Pda'sI.M. Anonymous @ 6/7/2002 1:39:27 PM #
