Palm Starts Manufacturing In Brazil
Reuters has released a report that says Palm has begun manufacturing handhelds in Brazil. The plant will make Zire and Tungsten handhelds for South America.
According to the report, Palm officially announced that it had started producing some of its models, such as the Zire, Zire 71 and Tungsten handhelds, in Brazil.
Brazil is the largest market in South America with a population of over 170 million. Palm has more than a 60 percent share of the Brazilian handheld computer market and has been active in Brazil since 2000 importing its product from North America. The handheld market in Brasil has been growing by about 10% per year.

As far as I know, Sony manufactures the Clie only in Japan; at least they are considerate of their country.

This manufacturing is amimed first at supplying the Latin American market. But about laughing about it, please make sure you know your facts before making fun.
Brazil is the largest consumer of electronics in Latin America, and several companies have their Latin American or South Americans manufacturing centers there. Some of them are:
Sony, Philips, Panasonic, HP, LG, Samsung, Siemens, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Flextronics, IBM, Dell
