Reader reports have come in that palmOne has begun to ship the Treo 600 to customers that had pre-ordered. The initial shipments are going out early, as previous estimates cited a early march shipping date.
Through March 2, 2004, palmOne is offering all Treo 180, 270 and 300 owners the ability to upgrade to a Treo 600 smartphone for only $399, exclusively at palmOne.com. The device is now also available on the AT&T, Cingular and Sprint networks.

I don't understand this--a guy at my office in New York has had his 600 for like weeks already. I would say it's been a good 3-4 weeks since he first brought it into the office. He got it from T-Mobile when he set up a new account. So why is PalmOne just beginning to ship *now*?? RE: Haven't these been out for a while??
T-Mobile released the 600's for Corporate accounts earlier in the year. The upgrades just became available.
I just got mine today!
Where can I find an unlocked Treo 600 and how much should it cost? Also don't want to disapoint any new proud Treo 600 owner, but is it for real that the Treo 610 does exist? That would be a killer based on what I've read. RE: Unlocked ones?
Treo 610 very likely does NOT exist. PalmOne is selling Treo 600's faster than it can manufacture them, so why would it spend a bunch of money to make a more expensive device that would instantly cannibalize its sales of the 600? PalmOne would be smarter to just manufacture the crap out of the existing 600 and get the costs down (and the profits up) so it can afford the dev needed to make a really awesome 630 in about 15 months.
Personally, I'm expecting a Garnet ROM update for the 600 in the next few months -- that should placate those who feel a need to upgrade already.
