Quickies: Treo Updater, SoundRec, Webcasts and More

palmOne has released the Treo Updater for "other GSM" carriers, there is a new free voice recorder for upgraded Treos, a new grip for the Zodiac aims to make gaming more comfortable, new versions of the Missing Sync have been released, NesEm has an updated beta that allows multiplayer over Bluetooth and much more in this quickie update.

PowerPlay Grip for the Zodiac
SurfaceInk has announced the new PowerPlay grip. It is an ergonomic grip created to fit the Tapwave Zodiac console. When snapped onto a Zodiac, it transforms the ergonomics into that of a full-size video game controller. It will be available in mid-June.

Treo Updater v1.12
palmOne has released the Treo Updater (v1.12) for other GSM carriers, which also includes models with the unbranded international ROM. The update includes a number of updates and fixes designed to enhance call quality and performance.

PalmSource to Present
PalmSource CEO David Nagel will present at the Lehman Brothers 2004 Global Wireless Conference at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on Monday, May 24, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. EDT. He will be will discussing the company's corporate strategy with investors and analysts. The replay of the webcast will be available here.

NesEm Multiplayer
The latest beta version of KalemSoft NesEm, the Nintendo NES emulator, now supports two player games over Bluetooth.

Agenda VU
CushySoft has released an update to their popular AgendaVU software to support the palmOne Zire 72. AgendaVU v1.1 is a shareware software add-on that displays photographic images as "wallpaper" behind the Agenda view in the Calendar application on newer palmOne handhelds. It also works with the TE and T3, to enable themes and custom wallpapers. The AgendaVU Theme Builder desktop software is $14 USD and lets you build an unlimited number of custom themes. [BUY]

NS Basic/Palm 4.2
NS BASIC Corporation announced today the immediate availability of NS Basic/Palm 4.2. It includes a powerful new Grid control. NS Basic allows developers who have used tools like Visual Basic to rapidly develop applications for Palm OS 5 based and earlier devices as well as Cobalt. NS Basic is a complete, powerful development environment for Palm OS applications. NS Basic includes features such as databases, serial and IR communications, signature capture, bar code reading, wireless communications and more. The new version is available immediately for $149.95 USD. Upgrades for existing users start at $49.95. Customers who already have NS Basic/Palm 4 or bought after October 1, 2003 will get the upgrade for free. Existing NS Basic programs are upwardly compatible with the new version.

SoundRec
SoundRec is a free simple to use voice memo recorder for Palm OS 5 PDA devices that have sound recording capability. The app has only been tested with the Treo 600 smartphone with the update.

Missing Sync
MarkSpace has updated the Missing Sync for Palm OS v2.0.2 ($29.95 new, free update). It adds full support for PalmOne's new Zire 31 and Zire 72 handhelds. Also the Missing Sync for Tapwave v1.0.1 ($39.95 new, free update) now includes a new Game Installer for Tapwave's Zodiac handheld game consoles.

Veo Transfer
VeoTransfer is an application that exports Veo Traveller pictures to ans SD card without a hotsync. It has just gone through a major rewrite which includes arm native code and a new colour correction algorithm.

Wireless Email Webinar
Notify Technology Corporation announced they will co-present along with alliance partners palmOne and Novell a Webinar entitled: "GroupWise Wireless Email delivered by NotifyLink on the Treo 600 Smartphone." The webinar will educate and enlighten Novell GroupWise users by discussing the advantages of using palmOne's Treo 600 for mobile access to their email, calendar, contacts and task information.

I checked just in case, and the updater for Cingular branded devices is available, too. Woot! Now I've got audio recording without voiding my warranty! :)
