For those that didn't get the joke -

Palm is screwing you in the *** if you buy the T5 or T650 but at least they're giving you some free lube in the deal so it's a little less painful!

Gekko, did you know that male pigs (flying ones or otherwise) have corkscrew-shaped "you know whats"? Yes indeed. I read it myself in the Straight Dope. So better make it two bottles! I just opened my Swiss Army knife, took a look at the corkscrew and thought of a T5 stylus!

My name is Eric Lyons. I'm a 35 year old Palm OS software developer living in Atlanta, GA.

Over the last four years, I have developed Palm OS applications for various small companies here in the Atlanta area. I'm currently developing an application for the healthcare industry. I was also a contributing author to the book "Palm OS Web Application Developer's Guide" for author Ben Combee. (Hi, Ben!)

Constructive criticism should be a component of discussions on internet forums. I too am concerned with recent the product offerings of PalmOne and PalmSource.

However, if PalmOne and PalmSource are too far gone in the minds of some posters, why are they still here? PalmOne and PalmSource aren't listening to their recommendations. Why do they continue to post? Why go down with the ship? Why support the losing team?

The more they post, the more they express their obsessive love of PalmOne and the Palm OS.

All these PalmOne deals would be cool IF ONLY they were making something I actually wanted. I fully intended to purchase the T5 until it was released and I saw it was actually the E2.

I realize that P1's new emphasis is on Smartphones, but does it make sense just to abandon the PDA space to their competition? I don't want a Smartphone and I can't picture that I EVER will (screen is too small among other things). Will P1 release a "powerful" handheld for its loyal users who don't want a Treo?

I have purchased 8 Palm handhelds for myself over the years... I guess I'll have to stray from Palm and try a Zodiac!

As crazy as it sounds, if I had to go out today and buy a NEW P1 handheld (as in, one that's still "officially" in their catalog and in production (no T3 or T|C) I'd go for the silver Z72 or the Zire 31 is $ was tight. The 72 has BT and good ol' DRAM and aside from the rotten camera, seems to be pretty decent. That's actually a pretty decent price for it on P1's web store.

I have yet to see one a Z72 SE in person but I imagine its silver is cosmetically identical to the "naked" pre-peeled blue Z72. I never thought the day would come when a Zire model was more appealing to me than anything the "flagship" Tungsten model. Oh how the mighty have fallen!

I would like to see palmOne pull off a Gold-Plated Styli for the Tungsten T5 and the Treo 650 and Treo 600...Having no Gold-Plated Styli for the Treo line and/or Tungsten T5 is just ridiculous....

Tungsten T5 with a free Wi-Fi SDIO Card would be nice and would kick a lot of butt.

I, for one, don't hate Palm... just the opposite I LOVE Palm. I have purchased many PDA's, encouraged friends to use them, have purchased TONS of software, and have tailored my entire time/project managment system around Palm.

Its just SOOO discouraging to have invested so much time, thought, and money into something... be ready to upgrade and spend more money... and see so little (actually nothing) worth upgrading too.

If I didn't love Palm I would just buy a PPC and forget about it. Instead I'm a glutton for punishment and I wait for the "next great PDA" only to be disappointed time and again.

oh well...

Well, to me it seems more like half of the posts are attacks on palmOne, while the other half are personal attacks on various PIC users.

A classic case of a small group of loudmouths ruining it for everyone else, I'm afraid. :-/
