![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rumor: Tungsten E2 and Zire 73 Listed OnlinePosted By: PIC on Monday, March 28, 2005 10:12:10 AM
A handheld accessory store has posted images and a number of accessories for two new palmOne models, the Tungsten E2 and Zire 73.
The Tungsten E2 and Zire 73 listings appear on PocketSolutions.com. The handhelds appear identical to their predecessors which could mean they are either placeholder images for an upcoming product or simply photoshoped images in order to drive traffic to the store. No new specs or information is supplied in the store listings.
The image for the Tungsten E2 seems to contradict the first image of the unit that was leaked by a FCC posting in January. That image shows the TE 2 with a palmOne logo and the Tungsten E2 marking in the upper right hand corner.
Thanks to Rich and PalmAddicts for the tip.

Did PalmOne switch the logo on the TE2? Or does it mean that the FCC photo is a hoax? I'm really confused on the TE2 photo. Could anyone clarify this? The world will end in 2006. Just as it was predicted in the bible along with the release of Microsoft Longhorn.... :p RE: The 73 has a 320x480 screen!
After seeing the pictures on the Pocket Solution website. The only real answer may be palmOne switched the logo. The accessories page also shows that the 73 and the TE2 use the Athena connector. This actually looks like a good lineup for the summer! The world will end in 2006. Just as it was predicted in the bible along with the release of Microsoft Longhorn.... :p RE: The 73 has a 320x480 screen!
Photoshoped jobs. Just enough to get an idea. No real means to tell if they are real or not because there is no accessory that they sell that will tell you (lest they say screen protectors). Also, these appeared quite a while ago on quite a few forums. Rehashed images..tisk tisk tisk. RE: The 73 has a 320x480 screen!I.M Anonymous @ 3/28/2005 8:44:39 PM #
The FCC pics are real. These, however, probably aren't. Look at the bottom left of the Zire 73 screen: the graffiti area was obviously digitally removed.

There's no way that palmone ships a handheld with a Palm logo. And I doubt that they ship another handheld with that deplorable coating. My guess is that we will see the FCC T|E and a QVGA Zire 72s (the silver edition) pretty soon. RE: This smells photoshop work
These are not real photos, but mockups. Maybe a "73" has HVGA, but never will the "E2" have a Palm Logo on front, The agreement is "Palm Powered" on various devices. "Palm" is non-existant as a PDA maker. Pat Horne; www.churchoflivingfaith.com RE: This smells photoshop work
The coating is actually very nice for the 30 days that it stays attached. The 73 ad shows the header with a silkscreen area. Obviously they are photoshopped images and for some reason I fear P1 will stick the "73" with yet another square screen. Let's see now, the iPaq had ful screen in .... 1932? also...if you look at the 73 hard case, you can see that its not really virtual grafitti. or they just forgot to edit it out RE: This smells photoshop work
Sorry about posting too soon. My jump for joy was too great. They are photoshopped. If you look at the hardcase in the listings area you can see the Zire 72 silkscreen. The Zire 73 picture also looks kind of cartoonish.

This one is very rough photoshop, but do you feel, how people want big screen Zire's? This would be very useful product - because all PPC VGA highend's are heavy like bricks yet. For sure PalmOne people feel it. In my opinion - there are 2 ways - 1. they release big screen and wifi products along with present cheap range another thing is, that one company actually makes all successful PPCs (HP, Qtek, XGA, MDA etc) and Palms at the moment - HTC. am I wrong, or this is competition inside one company? =) RE: photoshop but a good markup eitherAdamaDBrown @ 3/28/2005 3:45:34 PM #
The two best VGA PocketPCs, the Axim X50v and the Loox 720, weigh less than the Treo 650, and are thinner than the Zire 72. RE: photoshop but a good markup either
>>>and are thinner than the Zire 72. You need to put some more salt in p1's wounds: Those two PPCs also offer TWO SLOTS (SD *and* CF)! RE: photoshop but a good markup either
Yes, but 136g and 170g is a big difference for Zire72. Phone and keyboard make same difference for Treo 650. Actually until CF and SD slots are together only in High End PPC - there is good space to make a popular smaller product without CF and with 320x480. Most successful products always count on medium price and high value, not on "high specs no matter what". RE: photoshop but a good markup either
By the way:
Does anyone know the size of T5 screen? Or no one is interested?=)
