Palm has lowered the retail price of the Tungsten E2 handheld down to $199. The TE2 features a high resolution screen, nonvolatile flash memory and Bluetooth wireless.

Palm Tungsten E2 HandheldThe Tungsten E2 handheld comes with a 200MHz Intel XScale processor and 32MB of RAM (29.7 MB user available). The TE2 has dimensions of 4.5 x 3.1 x.59 inches (114 x 79 x 15mm) and weighs 4.7 ounces (133g).

The Tungsten E2 battery provides longer battery life than the original Tungsten E. And because it's flash memory, the information on the handheld is protected, even if the battery happens to run out.

Can't say that I'm shocked. They'll probably be stuck with quite a lot of unsold units, the T|E2 still ends up between the 2 major user groups: either your job buys you a palm, in which case you'll probably get a t5, treo or a TX, or you buy it yourself as a gadget, in which case you'll either get a top model tungsten or a z72.

I'm sure they sell some though.

.... huh? The E's have been the best selling device Palm has for the past year or more. It's just market positioning.

The "T|E3" is about to follow too. Most compact Palm ever.

The price drop happened several days before the TX came out, and most retailers had already dropped the price on their own.

LiveFaith, you make the best product design mock-ups! (BTW, how would you use the graffiti area properly on that thing? It looks a tad tiny)
