Palm Portable Keyboards Found In Stock!

The highly sought after and highly elusive Palm Portable Keyboards (PPK) have been found in stock at a single CompUSA in Woodland Hills, CA. This CompUSA is the only one with actual stock, while all others have a great number on order. All models are represented. At the time of this posting there were 3 in stock for the Palm III/VII series, 11 in stock for the Palm V/Vx series and (Believe it or not!) 3 in stock for the Handspring Visor! All models were running $99. plus tax. They do not expect to get more in until all the other stores receive their stock also, but the Woodland Hills store was completely unaware that these were in short supply and that no one else seemed to have them. Get there early for best selection! Good Luck and remember to download the beta 1.1 drivers from the Palm home page!

There are also Visor keyboards at the CompUSA in Boulder, CO. One of the salesfolk is even a Visor user and was knowledgeble. That's rare too.

Mine shipped direct from Targus, got it two weeks or so ago - but about a month ago I spotted a bunch of Palm V PPKs at a Staples not six miles from my home in the northern Atlanta suburbs.

So what?

Why should I care what's in stock at a store a thousand miles away?
Clumsy item...
Ervino @ 5/15/2000 4:52:50 PM #
IMHO Palm keyboard is a clumsy and absurdly overpriced item. The only sensate palmtop keyboard concept around it the pocket-sized folding one that comes as an option with the Royal DaVinci PDA (http://www.davinciworld.com/)" CLASS=NEWS>http://www.davinciworld.com/). I wish someone could develop a way to connect it with a Palm device...

Cheers

I think the PPK is one of the best keyboards to come out. All the others that have come out are garbage and I don't mind paying $99 USD ( I am Canadian so I paid $170 for mine) if the product is durable and does the job its supposed to...which the PPK does. My networking with business people has gone up due to the fascination with the piece as well as being able to enter info quicker than Graphitti. If there is anything to complain about..its Graphitti.

Portable keyboard

I tried to get around the tax and shipping garbage by ordering mine through Outpost.com, and now I have to wait until June 15th (or later) to get it. Crap. I called Palm Customer Service and the had a shipment of 200 today that went to people who ordered them directly through them. From what I understand, that wasn't even enough to fulfill the orders they had. I then asked them if they had the next shipment date. He said, "No". Crap. Good thing it's a toy and not a necessity!

Palm Keyboards In Australia

Andrew Johnson @ 5/16/2000 3:23:25 AM #
Im not sure about the supply in the US, but they seem to be plentyful in Australia, one shop Organiser World had heaps of both the 3 and 5 series keyboards. They even knew what they were talking about when i asked them about the different models. Very hard to find here in OZ.
