Palm Working on a Help Forum Upgrade

Palm's long-neglected help forums have quietly been taken offline. Palm has posted a brief statement that enhancements are forthcoming (namely, moderators and personal profiles) and to check back "In a few days".

Considering it would be impossible for Palm's forums to become any less helpful than they previously were, this move can be considered a positive step forward, especially in light of Palm and Cingular's recent announcement that the Treo 680 includes 90 days of free phone-based technical support.

WyreNut also writes I'm encouraged that Palm is trying to improve their badly tarnished reputation for support by finally modernizing their poorly implemented support forum! It was so hard to provide solutions in its present form - no mods, no way to edit posts, extremely new users already frustrated by their new Palm PDA's now presented with a poor support forum barely staffed by helpers (of which I've been trying to help for quite a while now as LPE).

Good help forums are a must

I mean, how often do you see people asking basic support questions at fansites like Treocentral and so forth? I see it everywhere.

They won't be running vBulletin, but it's a vast improvement over the old forum software.

Rollout should happen this week if all goes as planned.
