Posted By: Ryan on Monday, February 05, 2007 11:20:45 AM

Copper Treo 680The Copper (orange) Treo 680 is now back in stock at the Palm online store. The previous messages about it being no longer available seem to have been removed from the site. The unlocked version is available for the standard $399 and is listed as shipping within 1-2 business days.

Colored versions of the Treo 680 are only available from Palm.com and Palm retail stores. All other carriers selling the 680 only offer the Graphite version.

 As Expected

As expected the Copper is back, telling us a couple of things.

#1 It's the best seller (I would have gotten it if CNG had carried)
#2 Palm is selling at least one variety of 680 faster than expected and outsold it's supply chain. That's a nice problem to have.

The 680 is weak on camera, battery, and form factor, but I love what Palm has done to make it work properly on a day to day basis. Light years ahead of the 650 (beta) in my experience.

My Copper 680 came in last night. I was quite pleased with it when I reviewed it, and therefore i have one to replace my oft maligned/resetting way too much lately 650.

Currently on my desk I have a 650 (Cingy), 680 (unlocked), and a 750 (Cingy). The new design is much nicer. Though, the 750 and 680 do have some interesting differences between them - for example, the bottom of the 750 is more plump than the 750. It's a touch more comfy for me to type on the 680 with just that little change.

All in all, not revolutionary, but simply solid devices in the 750 and 680.

...this:

Inquiring minds wanna know!

Good question. Graphite is sooooooooo boring.

Boring. Yep, but it is very attractive in person. Palm did well on the looks IMO.

I'm still holding out for Blue and Black!

I would buy a midnight blue (something like the 750 or TX) in a heartbeat. Hopefully the next Treo will offer this.

Giggle...three months is forever in the cell-phone universe.

I think if someone cared enough to complain about the CEO's words, they might get what they cared enough about.

[let us not forget "The Classic Cobalt Example" of "ship by end of year"...]

Looks like they're finally going to be selling them cheap:

Oh...one extra note/commentary - the wording is unusual:

== "...Palm will begin selling Cingular-branded Treo 680 models
== in crimson, arctic and copper colors..."

which the PALM-pessimist in me says suggests that perhaps Cingular itself is not.

 wow... colors!!!

I find it amusing how easily we're misdirected from shortened battery life and other internal limitations just by painting pretty colors all over these.

Perhaps taking a cue from the automobile industry, form over substance will keep people distracted for a while. But, as the American auto companies have been told over and over - function and reliability wins in the long run....
