Verizon to Release Treo 700wx on Feb 20th?
Rumor: Engadget are reporting that the long-awaited Treo 700wx for Verizon is finally set to launch on February 20th. The pricing leaked is high in typically Verizon fashion; $620 retail, $450 w/ one-year contract and $400 with a two-year contract. A $100 mail-in rebate still appears to be in the works, as previously reported.
The 700wx's main claim to fame is a doubling of the meagre 32mb of RAM found on the 700w, launched as a Verizon exclusive in January 2006. No word as of yet if Palm or the CDMA carriers are planning for Windows Mobile 6 upgrades for the 700w/wx along the lines of the forthcoming GSM Treo 750 upgrade mentioned earlier this week at 3GSM.

Not quite a year old but otherwise true.
Unless you made some sort of deal with PALM to buy N thousand TREO 700s and you've only bought (N-K) thousand so far. And the 700W, of course, was EOLed months ago when the 700WX was "introduced", thus PALM can only sell you 700WXes.

I'm still waiting for proof that the 700WX is physically different from the 700W; I've seen NOTHING, ==including== FCC website entries, that suggest it is.
I personally think, lacking that proof, that the 700WX is actually the same in all ways physically as the 700W but has had software mods - including software removal - to create the "extra memory". Still waiting for someone to disprove that belief.
