reporting, Intel has formed the Low Power Intel Architecture project, or LPIA, to try to devise energy-efficient versions of its x86 processors, software and components for handhelds, micro PCs and other devices. More details on the LPIA will be revealed at the Intel Developer Forum next week, sources said.

In an CNET interview, Palm Chief Financial Officer Andrew Brown said that building a Treo that runs on the mobile version of Windows might help the company woo corporate customers who have been reticent to buy its Palm OS-based gadgets. While he makes a strong case for the company to be OS agnostic, he does not confirm or deny any of the recent rumors.

According to a report from
DigiTimes, the Chinese newspaper
Commercial Times claims Taiwan-based High Tech Computer (HTC) will produce Palm's next generation Treo series smartphones including one using Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system. Production is said to begin in the first quarter of next year.

Mobinity has
posted a clever workaround to transfer photos from your Verizon Treo 650 to your computer. Normally you cannot transfer pictures from your Treo via Bluetooth because Verizon disabled the feature and only allows you to send photos via their network. To transfer the pictures via bluetooth all you need to do is select to “Send an Album”, even if it only has one photo in it, which has an option to send the Album via Bluetooth instead of over the Verizon network.

Palm today announced that Sun Microsystems has deployed 600 Palm Treo smartphones to its U.S. field services organization for remote and onsite access to Sun's call-management system to better serve Sun customers. Sun tapped Asurion Managed Wireless to provide deployment, rental, inventory management and guaranteed overnight replacement for the Treo smartphones.
