Survey Says PDA's Drive Adoption of CRM

AvantGo has unveiled the results of the AvantGo 2002 Sales Management and Field Sales Representative Study. The study surveyed sales management executives and sales representatives to gauge their opinions on the level of success their current customer relationship management (CRM) and sales force automation (SFA) system implementations enjoy and identify how handheld personal digital assistant (PDA) solutions might impact the use of these systems. Overall, the study found that these systems suffer from low adoption in the field, and that PDA access could dramatically drive usage.

Handspring Brings GPRS Upgrade to T-Mobile Treo's

Handspring, today released its GPRS software upgrade for Treo customers using T-Mobile wireless service in the United States. This user-installable software upgrade brings a new level of performance and simplicity to the Treo 180 and 270. The software enhances applications like email and web with faster, persistent connections to high-speed data networks.

Socket Launches Bluetooth GPS Receiver

Socket Communications has announced the availability of its Bluetooth GPS Receiver, the first stand-alone wireless Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver for Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices supporting virtual COM ports. The Receiver is small and lightweight for optimum portability and allows anyone with a Bluetooth-enabled handheld computer to wirelessly receive GPS location signals within 30 feet of the Receiver. It works with a number of popular GPS map programs including Destinator, Mapopolis, Pharos and TeletypeGPS.

Fossil Wrist PDA Named Best of COMDEX

HandSpring Bringing Treo 270 to China

Handspring has announced the availability of the Treo 270 communicator in China by a partnership with CEC Telecom Co., Ltd.and GrandTech. The new metallic silver Treo will be sold as the CECT Treo 270 and is anticipated to be available in business channels and leading mobile phone and IT stores within the next 30 days.

PalmSource to Join Open Mobile Alliance

PalmSource announced that it has joined Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), a mobile industry body dedicated to removing barriers to global user adoption and ensuring seamless mobile application interoperability. The OMA was formed in June 2002 by approximately 200 companies representing the world's leading mobile operators, device and network suppliers, information technology companies and content providers.

Fossil licenses Palm OS for PDA Wristwatch

RealOne MP3 Player Coming For the Palm Tungsten T

RealNetworks and Palm, Inc. today announced a strategic alliance that will enable consumers to use their Palm Tungsten T handhelds as digital audio players. RealOne Player Mobile, which is based on the Helix platform, will deliver audio multimedia playback and storage for both RealAudio and MP3 files on Palm's newest handheld, enabling users to play and store music wherever and whenever. It will be made available as a free download by the end of the year.
