Handspring Introduces Enterprise Alliance Program
Handspring today introduced its Enterprise Alliance Partnership (EAP) Program, part of the company's plan to increase its sales to corporate customers. Handspring is hoping to encourage large companies to standardize on its forthcoming Treo line of smartphones and Visor handhelds. The EAP program is designed to develop partnerships with companies that will provide software and marketing and sales support to complement Handspring's products. Each partner will have access to marketing support for content, training resources, promotional opportunities and other programs.
"To make a great wireless experience for the enterprise you need a seamless, secure solution that can be tailored to the needs of the customer. By working with the best integrators and back-end solutions providers in the industry, we can leverage each other's experience to give corporate customers exactly what they want,'' said Ed Colligan, Handspring's COO.
The company recently announced strategic level partnerships with companies including Aether Systems, AvantGo, Extended Systems, Synchrologic, Wireless Knowledge and Visto Corporation through which the companies will jointly execute sales and marketing programs and work towards developing solutions that address a broad set of mobile needs. Key applications include access to corporate email, Sales Force Automation, Enterprise Resource Planning, Customer Resource Management, as well as solutions tailored to the medical and pharmaceutical industries.

When you find yourself in the company of a halfling and an ill-tempered Dragon, remember, you do not have to outrun the Dragon...you just have to outrun the halfling.
Far From Dead
The previous post is a repeat of some of the least intelligent posts I see on this site. It's unfortunate that there's people that visit this site and take the time to post something that actually makes us all dumber from reading it.

"How dead will Handspring be when they come out with a truly expandable, hi-res color device?"
Its already been done. Sony released the Clie several months ago. 6 months behind in technology will not get you anywhere.
I own a Clie that has 8MB built in ram and 64MB MS. Its all I will ever need. I want the MS camera though!
RE: In other words...
In all honesty, I think Handspring did a good job on the Treo if the corporate market is their main target. The economy is a little rough for corporations to be buying their employees new toys, but the combination cell-phone/organizer in such a small size with good battery-life is an intriguing mix. I do wish they could have somehow retained the springboard slot (for hooking up to the company network, using U-Presenter, etc), but that would have probably jacked the cost up. Well, My VisorPhone is still holding up, so I'm not ready to make a plunge to a new toy, yet.

well, come one know, do the blackberry devises use palm os? i mean thats the whole point to using the treo, is uses palm os. and palm os has tons of apps that could be usefull for anyone
Far from dead
The Blackberry sounds great. Too bad it was a flop. Half the work to making a product successful is design, the other half (I suspect the Blackberry was missing) is good marketing. If you don’t know about it, you won’t buy it. I think we're all in for a big surprise at how much the Treo will be accepted.
Really, if all you're going to do is bash Handspring, at least make it coherent. Facts are good, especially when they're relevant. Factless mouthing off just makes us all dumber. Let's keep it positive.

RE: In other words...
Clies are far from truly expandable, with only memory, a modem and an MP3 adapter available NOW.
Sure, the Treo's ideas have been done before. Windows, Polo shirts, laptops and Accords have been done before too, but I don't see Microsoft, Ralph Lauren, IBM or Honda going down the drain anytime soon. Do you?
RE: In other words...
Have you used one of these cell phones with a built in PDA? They don't just stink, they stink on ice. It doesn't matter if it has been done before if no-one has done it /right/. There is great potential for a cell phone with the power of the Palm OS built into it. Especially for companies who can use it to keep their salesmen connected to their central databases.
RE: In other words...
You see, this is the problem with anonymous posts. How the hell am I supposed to know if the same guy's responding to me or not. If you want to have any meaningful discussion, you've got to include your name. Otherwise, you just making us all dumber.
