Black AT&T Centro Becoming Available

As predicted, reports of the availability of the Obsidian black AT&T GSM Centro are finally making the rounds online. Several TreoCentral forum members are confirming sporadic retail availability at AT&T corporate stores of the anticipated black version of Palm's newest Palm OS smartphone.

The black version of the phone is considerably more subdued than its white sibling, as the bright lime green numeric keypad has been jettisoned in favor of the standard off-white keys seen on most other Palm smartphones. One final detail to keep in mind for prospective black Centro purchase is that Palm's newly-released extended Centro battery is currently available only with a white replacement battery door at this time.

If the AT&T-specific contrasting black and white Centros are not your cup of tea, then don't forget the range of various colors posted last month to Palm's Centro online training guide site. These are presumably additional color offerings that will be made available in unlocked GSM form later in the year, joining the unlocked white and black versions already available overseas.
