Palm OS programmer Dmitry Grinberg has added voice recording to his
Palm TX with a few spare electronics parts. All that he added was a capacitor, resistor, a small microphone inside the case and the voice recording software from the LifeDrive.

Palm and Alltel today announced the
Palm Treo 650 smartphone will be available through Alltel retail stores starting tomorrow. Also Telecom New Zealand announced the availability of the Treo 650 on Telecom New Zealand's CDMA network.

Palm and Cingular Wireless have made available a software update to the Treo 650 to version 1.17. The update includes optimized memory handling, support for Gmail and voice quality improvements.

The Core Pocket Media Player (
TCPMP) has been updated to version 0.70. The update features a large number of bug fixes and some new features. TCPMP is a free and open source video and media player. It supports Mpeg, Divx, Xvid, H.264, mp3 and ogg formats. This new version also includes support for enhanced podcasts (m4a with image slideshow).

Strategy Analytics, a global research and consulting company, today released, "Blackberry Learning Curve Too Steep for Consumers as Palm Treo Sets New Usability Standard," its latest converged device benchmark report, which concludes that the
Palm Treo 650 is the highest rated converged device in the USA, narrowly edging the Samsung i730 into second place and also beating the UTStarcom PPC6600 and Blackberry 7100. These results come from hands-on consumer testing by the Strategy Analytics Advanced Wireless User Panel.

Intellisync Corporation announced today that Intellisync has signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by Nokia. Intellisync stockholders will receive USD 5.25 per share in cash for each Intellisync common share making the deal worth about $430 million.

ACCESS and
PalmSource have just announced that ACCESS has completed the acquisition of PalmSource. PalmSource is now a wholly owned subsidiary of ACCESS and will no longer be a separate publicly traded company. As a result of the acquisition, each outstanding share of PalmSource common stock has been converted automatically into the right to receive USD $18.50 in cash.
