After numerous delays, Fossil has finally admitted the cancellation of the Palm OS Wrist PDA. The company has cited problems with the LCD display manufacturer as the main reason for all the release problems. A new less expensive and more powerful version of the watch is now expected in "the middle of this year."

Extending its line of small smartphone reference designs, Texas Instruments has announced its first complete EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution) chipset and reference design. Utilizing the company's OMAP platform, TI is first to introduce a complete EDGE smartphone chipset and reference design.

palmOne today announced it has initiated a second phase of the integration process that began when the company acquired Handspring, Inc. in Oct. The company is rebalancing the investment levels in its handheld computer and smartphone product families, and reducing its work force by about 100 people, or 12 percent.

PalmSource announced Tuesday that it has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to offer additional shares of stock for the purpose of raising additional capital. The company may use the funds raised to fund investments or make future acquisitions.
