PDA accessory company, iBiz, CEO recently made an apprearance on American TV and announced the company would be shipping the first Laser projection keyboard for handhelds sometime in the first quarter 2004.

The next generation version of the Palm OS was promised to be completed by this time. Dec 29th has come and gone without a peep out of Sunnyvale. Is Palm OS 6 still on track for an on-time release to licensees?

According to an article published on Yomiuri Online, a Japanese newspaper, Sony is planning to begin using OLED, or Organic LED screen technology, in new handhelds due in the spring of 2004.

PalmSource today reported revenues of $16.8 million for the second quarter of fiscal year 2004, ended November 28, 2003, shortly after the market closed. The company posted a slight loss in its first quarter after the spin off. Revenue grew 13% over the same fiscal quarter a year ago as 1.3 million palm powered devices shipped.

A user survey in the December issue of PC World shows that Palm Powered
handhelds have fewer support problems and leave their owners more satisfied
than Pocket PC devices.

Decuma has begun selling their OnSpot input software for all high resolution Palm OS devices, previously only found on select Clies. Decuma's OnSpot input system is an alternative to built in handwriting recognition.

Palm Inc has proposed to settle a class action law suit against the company that arose out of the m500 series SUDS problems. Long time PIC readers will remember SUDS, the Sudden USB Death Syndrome that caused many m500 series models, especially the m505, to stop USB hotsyncing.

A new survey from a medical software solution company reports that more than half the doctors in the US use a PDA, and among residents and students the percentage is even greater. The study goes on to point out the benefits and productivity enhancements handhelds provide in health care as well as areas for future growth.

palmOne, which consists of the former Palm, Inc. Solutions Group business plus Handspring, today reported revenue of $271.2 million for the second quarter of fiscal year 2004, ended Nov. 28, up 5 percent from the $257.9 million reported during the second quarter a year ago.
