The eagerly anticipated Palm game, doomling, has a new website and an expected release date of April 5th. Go check it out! The guy with the mp3 palm controlled bat-mobile rigged his Minstrel III modem to work with his IIIc and has details posted here. Palm was rated the PDA of choice among business travelers in this Greenfield study. SPUG has a review of the Silkyboard. Synchrologic to Support SyncML Initiative

Company to contribute enterprise synchronization experience to SyncML Initiative
PALM DESERT, Calif. – (March 7, 2000) Synchrologic, Inc., a leading provider of mobile computing infrastructure software for enterprise, announced today at Mobile Insights 2000 that it will support the SyncML Initiative being driven by IBM, Lotus, Motorola, Nokia, Palm, Inc., Psion and Starfish Software.
The SyncML Initiative is focused on developing and promoting an open industry specification for universal data synchronization of remote data and personal information across multiple networks, platforms and devices.

Investors handed dilemma

The Mercury center has an in-depth article on Palm and 3Com stock. They go over the IPO and take a look at the future prospects for both PALM and COMS. From the standpoint of most ordinary investors, however, the Palm offering has been a disaster. The first time the general public could buy a share of the stock, it cost $145. And the price has drifted sharply down ever since, closing Wednesday at $64.75.

Visor lands in Asia

This CNET article details that Japan will soon see a localized version of HandSpring's Visor. "Our plan is to be in the Japanese market by second quarter this year. We have already established an office in Tokyo. We intend to enter Asia via Japan first, then into other markets" said HandSpring's Donna Dubinsky.

IBM puts voice on Palm

Do you feel like talking to your PDA sometimes? With IBM's new embedded speech technology you may very well be talking to your PDA and even your car soon. PCWorld has an article on IBM's prototype Embedded ViaVoice software. In the demonstration, billed as only a technology demo, an IBM official made numerous voice-command and control calls to a Palm III, which responded by verifying appointments, and taking short messages.

Next Los Angeles PUG Meeting This Saturday

The next meeting of the Los Angeles Palm User Group will be this Saturday, March 11th at 10:30am at CyberJava in Hollywood. Our guest speaker for the meeting will be Palm's Area Sales Manager, Dianne Campbell. She'll be talking about and demonstrating the new devices from Palm, including the first color Palm - the Palm IIIc!
