Palm Announces Stock Buyback Program

Palm today announced that its board of directors has approved a stock buyback program of up to $250 million of its common stock. The share repurchase will be funded using the company's existing cash balance and future cash flows.

iSkoot, a mobile Internet communications company, has announced a new version of its mobile phone application which extends support to Palm OS powered Treo smartphones. iSkootMobile is a free, software application that connects mobile phones to PC-to-PC networks. iSkoot now allows Treo users to place and receive Internet calls through the Skype service from their mobile handsets, without the need for PCs, special hardware, or Wi-Fi hot spots.
GSPDA Announces the Xplore M70

GSPDA has posted a new Palm OS powered smartphone to their website. The Xplore M70 is a new GSM Palm OS Garnet based smartphone. GSPDA is promoting this model as a business phone featuring support for push email.
Motorola To Acquire Symbol Technologies

Motorola and Symbol Technologies announced today that the two companies have signed a definitive merger agreement, under which Motorola has agreed to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Symbol for $15 per share in cash. The transaction has a total equity value of approximately $3.9 billion.

Geodesic has announced the launch of beta version of Mundu Radio, an new mobile internet streaming radio service. Mundu Radio offers free access to unlimited music or broadcast content of choice to its users from any part of the world on their mobile devices.
Palm Supports CA Hands Free Cell Phone Bill

Palm, Inc. today announced its enthusiastic support of State Senator Joe Simitian's (D-Palo Alto) SB-1613, which will require California drivers who choose to use a cell phone while driving to use a hands-free device. The bill is scheduled to be signed by Governor Schwarzenegger today and to go into effect on July 1, 2008.
California's largest producer of cell phones, Palm is the first and only cell-phone manufacturer to publicly support the bill.
Stowaway Sierra Bluetooth Keyboard Announced

Mobility Electronics' Think Outside division has announced the launch of the Stowaway Sierra, a portable Bluetooth keyboard designed specifically for smartphone users. Palm Developer Network Announced
