Chapura today released Call Log+ for the Palm Treo 650 smartphone, to help improve the accuracy of the customer’s contact management by more effectively using the information captured in the built-in call log and offering additional conversation-tracking tools. Call Log+ software lets Treo 650 owners take notes on their smartphone during or after a phone call and keep track of these conversations on their PC desktop by synchronizing the call log and associated notes with Outlook Journal entries, linking them to the corresponding Outlook Contacts.

Google has just launched a
mobile version of Gmail. You can now get your Gmail messages from the web browser on your mobile phone or handheld. It allows you to read and reply email and supports photos, office documents and PDF attachments.

Palm OS programmer Dmitry Grinberg has done it again. Shortly after he added a
voice recorder to this Palm TX, he has now figured out a way to add a vibration alarm to the TX. Dmitry says it cost him $12 in parts from radio shack. He has posted an
image on how to set it up on the internal circuit board and has posted
drivers as well.

The
Treo 650 isn't the only linux project in development. The
Hack & Dev group has made progress on getting Linux to work on the Palm LifeDrive and Tungsten T3. They have also made some early progress on getting the open source
GPE graphical interface to function. If you're feeling adventurous, they have binaries available to download that will run off an SD card.

A few developers have been working on a project to get Linux to load on a Palm Treo 650. They have just announced they are able to get it to boot up the kernel to a command prompt. The project is still in the early stages as there is no working keyboard or phone driver yet.

The New York Times has posted an extended
interview with Palm CEO Ed Colligan. In the interview he discusses a number of current topics including the RIM legal drama, open source software, the Microsoft partnership, competition, the growth of smartphones and talks a bit about their "next-gen product" with broadband connectivity.

New Features
The software store got some new enhancements this week. First, we now accept Paypal as a payment option. Second, we now allow the user to manually select a currency in the store. You will see the user currency controller on the top navigation next to the My Cart item.
