Comments on: zShades Offers Clip-on Faceplates for III Series
Zshades has begun selling a line of color, snap-on faceplates for Palm III, IIIx, IIIe and
IIIxe handhelds. The covers, in translucent blue, red, teal, and purple, snap on tightly and provide additional protection as well as personalization Unlike complete case case replacements, using them doesn't void the handheld's warranty. They are available on the Zshades web site for $20 plus $5 shipping.

RE: ZShades
I agree. I don't have a PalmIII device, but I wouldn't use one of those if it were a gift. It has no screen protection, and you can't use the stock flip cover because the faceplate itself uses the flip cover's attachment point. What you end up with is a PalmIII with no screen protection that will no longer fit into hard and other form-fitting cases, and clip-on accessories won't connect. To do any of those things, you need to remove the faceplate. If those faceplate colors are more important to you than the well being or expandability of your device, then by all means, buy one and use it.
For me, though, I'd sooner buy a colored replacement flip cover, or actual device casing than this thing. I'd get cool colors, AND still protect my device, not to mention that a flip cover is cheaper than this thing, and you can still use your form-fitting cases and clip-on accessories.

I hate to knock someone's invention so hard, but it's not such a great idea.

just because palm has ceased production of the III series doesn't mean that they're making everybody throw theirs out. even if they're not being made, people still *own* the III series machines, so why complain about a company making products. Would it be a waste for someone to make a case or screen protector that fits the III series?

Yeah man the m50# series is just a load of crap if you ask me. What the heck do I need an SD slot for when I'm not gonna use one? And I already have OS 4 flashed onto my IIIxe and there is NO difference aside from SD slot support which the emulator Rom doesn't have anyway.
Palming away.....

Sounds Good...

Except why are they just now being released way after the first Palm III was released?
Palm m100
Z- Shades is just trying to make the palm III like the m100 and i think that it would not be successful because it just adds size to the already big handheld. Bottom line...get a m100 or 105!!!
