Comments on: Targus Ships V Series USB Charger/HotSync Cable
Targus has introduced the USB Charge-Sync Cable for the Palm V series, which, when connected to a USB port, can both charge the Palm and perform a HotSync. It transfers data at up to 12Mbps and offers a HotSync button and an LED to indicate power, transmit, and receive. Supporting Palm OS 3.1 and greater, the cable is compatible with Windows 98, ME and 2000. It costs $50.

RE: USB Speed

The serial port on the V is the limitation so no cable can give it full USB speed. We'll have to wait for the m500 series for this. The advantage of connecting it to the USB port on the laptop is the USB port can both HotSync and charge the battery, which the serial port can't do. This means one cable not two.
Can anyone who has any one of these tell me how quickly it can charge the Palm?

Palm V series has an RS232 serial port, so it's limit is 115,200 or 115 Kbps. With this cable, your max throughput will be 115Kbps.
high margins!
