that camera, is BAD design. it doesn't even rotate!

i wish sony had adopted sd, then i could buy their camera for my palm!

SD-Slot should not be used for a camera!

I think it is not a good thing to use the SD-slot for a camera.

The Kodak PalmPix uses the universal connector, so you can store your picture files on an SD-card. If you connect the camera to the SD/MMC-slot, the amount of pictures you can take is limited to the RAM of your Palm.

Probably this SD-camera does have a faster transfer rate and a better preview, but a resolution of 640x480 is what the Kodak already offered for the Palm III-Version (March 2000) of the PalmPix. So this is not a step forward.

Discontinued for a good reasons too... the design did not change much from the III series version with the exception of the macro mode and focus. I purchased one for the m5xx and took it back. Despite having a mode made for pictures of 8.5 x 11 paper, the image was too poor to read what was on the paper... so much for spy work!

I might pick one up again for the novelty if the price is cheap enough.

yes, well, that is one reason why it is bad design, BUT if sony had used sd i would have bought their camera even though it allowed for no cards to be used.

we need canon or panasonic (w/ leica) to make us a REALLY good digital camera for palm. the only prob is that most cameras use cf slots for sheer volume, low price and reliability, while palm STILL continues to provide ONLY sd.

It says compatible with the WinCE operation system too. Though I know of no SD based WinCE models with an off-center slot like the M505.

Not an option for HE330 either alas. Even if it had SDIO , the image would be upsidedown ;-) (a little debate between HE and Palm what the spec says about face up or face down...).

I think one of my main problems with this camera (aside from removing your storage card to use it), is the way it does *not* attatch to the Palm. The camera itself would not weigh much, but it also includes its own battery. There is no form of support other than the SD slot itself... it cannot be supported by the top of the Palm because a gap between the camera and the top of the Palm must be maintained to release the camera. Remember that you push down on SD devices and let them pop up for removal. Also, with the camera body offset from its sole support, the camera will act like a lever and increase the force on the slot when bumped or moved. The slot itself can take the resulting twisting force, but the neck of the camera would be another issue. If I was going to have an SD camera, I would make it similar to the Sony MS design, but with 32 or 64 MB of storage onboard and drawing power from the handheld. Does not make sense to me to have a storage-hungry option that forces you to lose your storage!
