Am I being dense, or is 2000 mAh actually closer to 11% more total energy? Where does a 25-30% increase in battery life come from?

The additional weight causes it to bounce more efficiently causing an increase in available energy;)

mAh just indicates a bigger gas tank. Depends on what you put it in, as to what the actual usage will be. Each device will likely have their own low voltage shut off points, leaving you some portion of it's total rated capacity. Increase the total capacity of the battery, and the percentage change to usable capacity is greater than the overall capacity increase.

Anyway, that's my shot in the dark. I'm sure someone will post BatteryBench scores at some point to put real world data out there.

Their figure likely comes from the percentage of C, of B+C. Whereas you're calculating it as the percentage increase of A+B+C over A+B

They may have also been factoring in the replacing an old battery with the new. I recently replaced a year and a half old battery in my cell phone. I easily gained 50 to 75% more battery life.

They also have an upgraded battery for my m505... my battery is definitely on its way out. Not bad, considering I purchased my Palm in Summer 2001.

My treo 600 gets incredible battery life. I don't see why I would really need this. Now my old 300 on the other hand. . .

Hi All,

Ok we are in the middle of running some real world test. The 25%-35% came from the manufacturer that we had make these batteries. We should have a detailed test result on actual battery life in a few days. We are testing how long the battery will last in full use. Later we will run some test on standby time also.

The battery sled of course is available in the form of the PalmOne Power-To-Go. But I doubt many (if any) would find a HD connected via a serial connection to be fast enough to be worthwhile. Reminder number 49,267: USB in the Universal Connector in not Host Mode, and is only useful for connecting to a PC or other device with a host mode USB port. UC peripherals mostly use the serial lines in the connector. And it's doubtful anyone other than PalmOne will spend R&D for a Universal Connector device at this late juncture given the uncertainty PalmOne has enshrouded it with.

But most of all, the battery would be consumed by the HD leaving very little to top up the PDA with.

Less bulky than this would be a CF slot, which coinsidently has numerous CF sized hard drives available in that form factor. More than one PalmOS device in the past (no larger than current models) has sported such a slot, and one even had both sd and CF together with a screen dimensionally larger than my Tungsten C, and yet the overall size was virtually the same.

In the mean time Bluetooth HD's can be had for your T3.

How about Power To Go + 1 Gig SD card?

Seriously, the T3 has no more space available, so any replacement battery would have to offer a higher capacity with the same physical size.

Bluetooth HD?? You mean a hard disk connected via Bluetooth??
Surely a serial-connected HD would be slow, but certainly a BT one (if it exists) won't be better.

About the past models with CF slots: IMHO, if the current model without CF and the past model with CF don't sport the same functionalities, then the comparison isn't fair.

What is the Timeframe for an upgrade

Hi,

We have an online Store offering T-Mobile Treo 600 (will soon be offering Treo Ace though http://www.treoace.com )

I was thinking of offering a service where people can buy a Treo 600 with a pumped up battery.

My only issues are the warranty and the time it takes to get it done.

Any ideas from anyone?

be careful opening case

I purchased one of the batteries and damaged the headset port when opening the case. After that the phone would not ring and I could not hear callers. Luckily my cell provider gave me a new phone. All went well the second time around and the battery is installed. Hope the pain was worth an extra 20% battery. Also I noticed the original battery had additional components on the edge of it, hope they were not important.

I upgraded my battery from PDAParts.com, installed w/no problems but after about 6 months I started getting the NO SERVICE routine again w/my phone as well as the battery suddenly not taking a charge; I contacted PDAParts.com via email for my invoice to check when I had bought the battery and received an almost immediate response; I then emailed back that the battery was not holding a charge and how long was the warranty to which I got no response, even after 5 emails. Suddenly they were incommunicado. I emailed again, after having called to hear a voicemail telling me they only took emails and no phone calls (hmmmmmmm . . . . ) I finally got a response telling me it "wasn't necessary" to email so many times – even though it was obvious they weren't going to acknowledge or bother to respond until I persisted – and that the battery only carried a 30 day warranty.

I finally got out my car charger I had also purchased from them at the same time and found it didn't even work, even with another friend's Treo.

I wouldn't recommend buying anything from PDAParts.com. Their customer service is rude and unresponsive and they don't stand behind their products. Go elsewhere for your batteries and other parts.
